I went to the range Tuesday to get my weekly shooting time. It's an indoor range and there was myself and two guys shooting together a few lanes away. They were early 20's and very "gangsta" looking. I carry a SA XD40 and that was what I was shooting. (Yes, I love my 1911 but I feel more comfortable carrying my XD.) After shooting for a while I am reloading when one of guys says "hey, which XD do you have?" I told him the .40 and he says he is shooting his XD in 9mm. We are talking and he says he almost got the .40 but liked the accuracy of his 9mm. Well, his buddy starts laughing and points at my target which has about 80 holes in it in an area the size of my fist. One nice gaping hole almost dead center. I look at thier target and it has 40-50 holes in it but there are no two shots within 3 inches of each other. Well, the first guy just say mumbles something and walks back to his lane.
On the way home I was thinking to myself that the hours of dry-firing and range time have been paying off. It was one of those eye-opening experiences.
