I though I would share a picture of Serial number 1 Colt 1911 with my friends here when OD and I went to Hartford.
This one is also housed in the State Library and really got to me when I say it just under a pane of glass. If this pistol could talk I was enjoy sitting in on the stories.

Wow. Do you guys realize that when that pistol was made, the Wright brothers were still just running a bike shop in Dayton, Ohio? We're now in the preliminary stages of 'conquering' Mars, and this gun is still in service and arguably still the best pistol out there.... That's amazing.

You know, with as much time as I've spent in Hartford, it pains me that I don't even have so much as a picture of the "Blue Onion".:frown:
Go to the Connecticut State Library, that's where the real dome is located.

Thanks for posting the pic, Hunter. I can also highly recommend the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia. If ever you are in the area it would be worth a visit.
