Hello Everyone, I am thinking of picking up an AAC Recon here very soon. However, this will be my first 1911. My primary experience with pistols started out with Glock's and with in a year or so I moved over to HK's. With HK's and Glock's you generally can do what you want to them and it won't hurt the firearm. Such as racking the slide on an empty chamber. It won't damage the firearm. I've heard that with a 1911 that isn't the case. I've also never found any ammo that would cause my HK's to function properly. I've heard that with 1911's, they can be a little pickier. In short, I am just wondering what to expect as far as difference in treating and taking care of the pistol and what type of ammunition you all recommend. Currently I carry Golden Sabers in my HK45C and Federal HST in my USP Expert. Ball ammo I am not picky about except I won't shoot aluminum cases. I stick with brass. Thanks everyone.
