UGLEEEEEE!!!

I bought them some time ago for cheap.

I s'pec they'll be fuctional.
WAY better than the stock GI sights...

BUT.....they're butt fugly and too darn big and tall for a slick semi-melt I'm trying to create

here's what they started as after i dehorned a tad and then fitted them to the dove tail

YUCK!!!

out came the cutting/grinding tools to try and blend a little better

better, but I'm still not at all happy with them.

I'll post a thread in parts forum for recommendations on low profile better looking sights.
But figured I'll leave the pics here of my rookie 'smithing cob job

I don't know, they're not THAT big. Round those front edges off some more and they won't catch on anything when you draw from a holster. Ain't nothin' wrong with frankensteins as long as they work. I say leave em' alone and enjoy.

Naw dude, do what ya gotta do. Tracy

[email protected], you're ticklin' me, Son!

welp, they're a "little" less gaudy now

I'll do a little more finish sanding on them and wait for now til the rest of the project is done and ready for Duracoat before I make the final desicion on whether they stay or go.

mean time, I'll look around the 'net to see if I find sights that fit my fancy and budget

Hey cap, a little JB weld will fill in those cracks right purty!!! Might even think about some Bondo. :dancingbananna:

LOL, I don't know Cap, ya got me tickled so I had to pick at ya.

That looks much better, but those gaps under the sides would aggravate the pure crap outta me.

Cap,

Who's sight's are they?

You didn't post a "before" pic from the rear. In your last pics, I see they're serrated with dots. Kinda look like "Para's" the way you have them rounded now. Pretty good work from my veiw. I'm impressed. Tracy

Actually, I WAS thinking body filler.
That gap will be nothing but a LINT TRAP for a carry gun

I don't mind the razzing, either.
It's all in good fun.
You should see the way we ABUSE each other on the trade related sites I hang out on:rofl:

Tracy, they're some generic sight, i "think"?

While looking for new sights on line last night, i saw an e-bay vender selling the same sights.
'least they look identical to me

http://cgi.ebay.com/Colt-1911-Low-P...ryZ36258QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

i paid $20(?) new for mine from a member of the other 1911 board

I'll wait til I'm done with everything else before I decide.
The slide is sitting on my desk right next to me at moment, and they're not looking "too" terrible now.
If I keep 'em, I will fill the gaps with some kind of mud before Duracoating

edit...Duracoat, Got-3.
It's easy and I have the material on hand

Then Bondo/body filler should work OK then. I was worried about parkerizing or bluing.
