In the past I have owned .45ACP 1911s manufactured by Colt, S&W and Kimber. Recently I have developed a preferance for 9mm 1911s. I have been super pleased with the performance of Pro Aegis II so this week I traded in the last of my SIGs a got a new Ultra Aegis II as a companion piece. I took both to the range this morning and ran about 200 rounds of 124 grain FMJs and a handful of Gold Dot HPs through the new Ultra. No issues at all except for one magazine that is still not always locking back ater the final round. Shooting off the bench and standing 2 hand shooting both guns were very accurate at 15 yards. Off the bench I got several 1-1.5" groups when I did my part. Great guns! The Ultra Aegis will serve as my primary CCW as soon as I get a few hundred more rounds through it. Anyone else shoot an Aegis or other 9mm 1911? Thanks, Dennis

No,but I've been considering one. With ammo costs,I've been shooting a lot more 9mm and of course the 1911 platform is my favorite. I've still got plenty of .45's around for HD.

I realize this didn't help you at all.

And welcome to the forum! Be sure to post pics in the picture thread. Not doing so is a ban-worthy offense!

My carry gun is the Ultra Aegis II. Mine would only lock open on one of my 5 mags when I first got it. Kimber sent me a new slide stop and that fixed the problem. It has never had a FTF, FTE, or FTRB. It is very accurate for such a small pistol.

My wife & I also have a pair of Springfield Loaded full size 1911A1 in 9mm. Mine is my house gun.

My wife's carry gun is a Springfield EMP.

We also have a Keltec PF9 and a Kahr PM9. We like our 9's.

I have an Ultra Aegis II (9mm, 3") that I absolutely am awed by its reliability and accuracy. It took three trips back to Kimber to get it that way, but it has turned into a truly amazing little pistol.

I started out with a Colt Defender (45acp, 3") about 6-7 years ago, and thought it didn't get any better than that pistol. Well, I think the Aegis is every bit as good, and maybe better. Up to 15 yds, it's accuracy will match any "standard" full-size, 1911 in 9mm.

I'm currently looking for an ankle holster for my Aegis. Has anyone tried this?

I bought an Aegis when the 3" model was the only one offered by Kimber, and I have been carrying it ever since. I was amazed from the start at how reliable and accurate the weapon was, especially for a 3"-barreled 1911. After about a year I started having an occasional jamming problem with hollow points, but I sent it back to the Custom Shop. They tweaked it and I've had no problems since. It is an excellent pistol in all respects. My only wish is that someone would introduce magazines that have a removable baseplace to make cleaning them easier.
