Does anyone recognize this as being made by any "known" company? It has a couple of things I like, such as wide shoulder straps and an open holster for different length pistols, so I thought I would try it. It's also cheap.:) I thought I would try it though to see if I actually like shoulder holsters before investing a lot of money. Is anyone familiar with them?

Dont recognize it but some things I like about it are:
What you said about the wide shoulder straps.
Also the fastening "X" piece in the back is good & wide. That helps w/ not binding up on the shoulders.
Open muzzel on the holster.
Plenty of adjustment. Holes that are close enough for fine adsustments.

The older I get the more I go to shoulder carry.

Thanks Longtooth. I figure for 42.80 shipped it's not too much of a gamble and I could probably sell it without losing too much if I don't like it. I was actually kind of impressed with how it looks though, I was looking at the galco jackass as I like the wide straps and open holster and this one had both features much cheaper.

I got this holser in today and so far I am actually pretty impressed with the build quality. Now I will not try to say it's in the same league at all with the big guys, but it seems to be well made. I'm a big guy and worry about things that don't have a size being too small, but this one has plenty of adjustment room. I have it adjusted and have the oacp in it with a couple of full size mags in the mag pouch to see how it feels. It actually feels pretty good to me, but I can't compare it to anything. Someone with a top notch rig probably would disagree with me.

The holster is cut to fit a smaller 1911, but is open and any length will go into it. I like that. The straps are wide on the shoulders and I thik I can get used to it. It WILL take me a little while to get used to having something like this on as I am not at all used to it. I don't think it will take long though. Overall I think it's very much worth 42.80 and even probably more than that. Will I get a better rig? Maybe, this one will let me know if I like wearing one or not and I can take time to save up for one while using this one.

I have no idea where it was made. It does not have anything on it except for a small c stamped on the mag pouch. It's too nice and the leather is too nice for it to have come out of china, the person that is selling them is in el paso but that does not mean much. I would say that mexico is possible, but I looked at shoulder holsters in mexico and never saw any with leather this nice and thick. Who knows.

Jerry, by the pictures it looks like a very nice shoulder holster. Hey, as long as it does what it was designed to do it does not matter what name is on it!!!!:smile:

Jerry, when I was in Cozumel, Mexico in September I was looking for holsters and other leather goods and I was very surprised at how much the leather prices increased since my visit 2 years before.:smile:

You never can tell down there, especially in the tourist areas. The wife is originally from mexico and she says there is an area in mexico where they are very well known for their leather, but I forget now where. I know the lead singer from "los broncos" opened a huge boot store there.

The person that sells these says he buys them and his other holsters at gun shows, many of them are hand made by people that don't have stores. Don't know if this one fits in that category but it's pretty well made.

One thing I noticed is that it doesn't appear to have any method of anchoring to a belt. This can be a disadvantage if you are ever in a situation where you need your gun out FAST.

I've bought cheap leather in the past, when times were lean. I have a couple of single ply belts that I got real cheap and ended up taking them to a cobbler and having another ply stitched into them. I was still in and out cheaper than I would have been, buying a belt from a maker of reputation. They work just as well. So, if you need to add something here, or there, or improve something, you're still in it WAY less than if you went to a high-zoot house.

All that matters is, it works and that you like it. Personally, I couldn't care less if something says, "GUCCI", or "made in my basement."

I'm with you, I don't go with name brands much. I have been "breaking in" the leather playing around with it by hand and it's getting even more comfortable.

Thanks for the tip but I pretty much never wear a belt, my iwb's are all clips because of this. I also am liking it pretty "high and tight" so it's pretty stable. I do need to put another snap on the retainer strap as it's kind of long for cocked and locked, I noticed if I put another snap in just before the one it has it should be perfect.

Your high & tight position is verry secure & when you draw a simple holster grip w/ your cover arm really stabalizes it.
My opinion is, most who do not like shoulder carry usually try to carry waaaaayyyy toooooo low. If I wanted a crossdraw I would wear it from my belt & not from my shoulder.
You are adjusting it right IMHO
My .02cents & some think it worth half that.

Thanks Longtooth, it appears to be very stable carrying like that. My slim and trim days are behind me though, maybe my size as something to do with it. Mind you I don't have any experience with it yet, just first impressions.

Now here's an odd shoulder holster, like the cross draw you mentioned. This is the person where I got mine and he said he will be adding more stuff this weekend as he is hitting the gun shows again.
