I just received this from the NRA...

NRA Wins Big in California State Court of Appeals

Fairfax, VA - The California State Court of Appeals announced today their decision to overturn one of the most restrictive gun bans in the country, following a legal battle by attorneys for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and a previous court order against the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
"Today's decision by the California State Court of Appeals is a big win for the law-abiding citizens and NRA Members of San Francisco," declared Chris W. Cox, NRA's chief lobbyist.
In 2005, NRA sought an injunction against the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to prevent them from enacting one of the nation's most restrictive gun bans. NRA won the injunction, but the City's mayor and Board of Supervisors ignored the court order and approved a set of penalties, including a $1,000 fine and a jail term of between 90 days and six months, for city residents who own firearms for lawful purposes in their own homes.
"We promised our California NRA members in 2005 that we would fight any gun ban instituted by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and we haven't given up that fight," continued Cox. "Today we see our second win for the Second Amendment against the San Francisco gun ban. We beat them once in court and the City's attorney appealed based on his personal disagreement with the court's first decision to overturn the ban. Now we've beaten them again. The California State Court of Appeals has upheld the state preemption law."
Today's decision came in the form of a 3-0 opinion in favor of the lower court ruling overturning the gun ban.
"This decision is a thoughtful and well-reasoned legal opinion," concluded Cox. "I'd like to thank our approximately 4 million members, including the hundreds of thousands of members in California, for their continued commitment to protecting our cherished freedoms."

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. Four million members strong, NRA continues its mission to uphold Second Amendment rights and to advocate enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the military.

While I am not pickin' a disagreement with you Jerry I have to comment that it is good news for alot more than just the residents of San Fran or the area of CA affected.

As many of us keep trying to tell the "unarmed victims" and the Lib-ocrats

The bad guys don't care what the laws governing ownership are or how many you make up, they are called the bad guys for a reason so stop trying to take the rights away from the good guys!

Rant over.

The preceeding rant brought to you by one guy who was raised in a house with guns and is generally an asset to society and aspires to raise his son to be the same... and probably will regardless of what some may say or think about it.

Of course, by me singling out the people that live there I WAS NOT saying it isn't good news for everyone. It's just that it directly affects their ability to protect themselves and defending ones family greatly outweighs any other benefits...and of course there are more.

Yeah, that's why I usually avoid commenting on the rights issues and that kinda thing. I wasn't trying to be confrontantional, I was trying to add comments but maybe it was poorly executed.

I was trying to make a general comment rather than comment on anything you said which is why I said "While I am not pickin' a disagreement with you Jerry..." which I can see drew your attention to my statement as if I was making a rebuttle.

You got me in years as well as a few other areas so I don't know what else to say.

Sorry.

I didn't take it as confrontational, just stating why I posted it as I did. The first thought through mind was them being able to protect themselves....I also need to stay out of these types of areas.

While any gun victory is good for gun owners, the issue here is really fairly narrow and California centric. It's about state law overriding a local ordinance. In California, that's pretty much old news. There have been a bunch of cases on that issue.

Pretty much everyone, at least anyone who understood the law, knew that the San Francisco gun ban was DOA.

The real fight is Heller. That's for all the marbles.

Got it, we need you to be here on this board so you know what to do Pistolero...
( or not do ).

I live in CA, and in my county we are going for a Sheriff that will actually GIVE a gun permit... Our current Sheriff will not give one to ANYONE !!!

Like said above, any victory is a good one, and in CA  they are very hard to come by. :flag:

Excellent news. I'm reminded of the lyrics to the old Sinatra song ..."If I can make it there, I can make it anywhere..."

Keep up the fight, fellers - DC and Chicago can't be far behind
