Folks hungry?
Well, I went road deer hunting this morning. Not in the usual sense...but trying to find evidence of the deer my son shot last night. It was snowing hard and he had shot a big doe from about 75 yards out. It ran another 60-70 yards and crossed the road before piling up in a heap just 20 yards into the woods off the road. He left the blind, walked across the field and followed the blood trail to where it laid across the road. He dragged the deer back to the ditch, then headed to get his truck which was 150 yards away in our small gravel pit. By the time he got to the end of the drive and to the road, he met a car heading East. Well, that car had stopped and 2 people got out and stole his deer. A neighbor had just gotten home and witnessed the whole thing. He met my son where the deer had been laying and told him to go after that car...they had stolen his deer. By the time my son had followed the tire tracks for 2 miles thru new snow on the road, the tracks disappeared from snowmobiles on the road. So, when my son called me last night, all angry and upset, I agreed that what had happened was frustrating and angering, but perhaps someone was out of work, short on money and really needed the meat....but it`s too bad that they didnt just wait the few minutes to ask....my son would have gladly given the deer to them. It`s not like this was a road kill...my sons footprints were there and there was blood everywhere from where the deer had died back out towards the road where he dragged it to. But, like I said.....apparently some folks were hungry.
