I guess I'll get the ball rolling...
The RIA is my first foray in the the 1911's. While I've been shooting handguns for well over 40 years, I've never owned one.
I chose the Rock Island because of owner satisfaction, and superb customer service personnel. I also didn't want to invest a lot of money into something that I might not like
The gun is their basic 5" Government model. I replaced the Mahogany grips with a pair of original WWII "Coltwoods", and opted for an arched MSH from Auto Ordnance. My only real departure from the "stock" look, was the addition of the Ambi-safety (southpaw).
This has been an accurate and totally reliable gun, and a joy to shoot. I certainly have received my money's worth.
