Hi, I just joined this forum and I need your opinion. I thing I messed up my first try at posting, so here goes again. I tryed to post a photo from Tiny-Pix, but it would not register.

I purchased a 1911 Remington Rand .45 with an Essex frame, and unmatched barrel, in very good condition, about 85% to 90% I would guess.

I realize that at this point it just a nice shooter, but I only paid about $300 for it 15 years ago.

The slide is parkerized and is marked on the left side 'REMINGTON RAND INC. SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.' on two lines 1 3/8 inches long. The frame is marked on the right side 'ESSEX ARMS CORP. ISLAND POND, VT. 269' on three lines, The barrel is marked '.45 AUTO 7791193 91' on three lines. I found no other markings, except on the Pachmayr Signature Model rubber, wrap-around grips.

My question; How difficult and how expensive would it be to convert this to a good quality true Remington Rand, or am I better off just having a nice shooter? I do have quite a few 1911 parts, but no frames, and can install them myself.

Your opinion will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you and Regards, gkenny.
