Great Link.....I`m lucky enough that I can shoot in my own front or back yard. And if I`m bored here I can go to my folks or my best friends. Ahhhh, to live in a farm community. Actually, I might try to use that link to find the nearest indoor range, since it`s darned cold here now, and I`m getting to the point age wise where me and the cold don`t get along as well as we used to.

AHHHH the niceties of living in the country....
My backyard and front yard too.

I'll check out the link too.
Same here. I have 8 acres that borders a large conservation area, so I don't lack places to shoot.
Guys you are lucky I am a city boy and belong to a few Gun clubs locally, I went shooting today with my newly converted TTT GSR and it worked flawless!
This is something that really bothers me. Having just moved here, I'm not having much luck finding a range.

The two indoor ranges here have only 4 lanes each and no ventilation at all. The outdoor ranges are of the 'conservation club' type so they're pretty rustic and require membership. I'm told there's a decent range down at Atterbury, but that's 2 hours away.
Heck I'm used to shooting 6 days a week! I'm having withdrawal symptoms!

I guess I'll have to join one of the clubs... or maybe I'll win the lotto and build a 16 lane, pistol/rifle, air conditioned, indoor facility!
I'll call it Jack's Place!
Just joined the Piasa Rifle and Pistol Club in Alton, Illinois that allows access 24/7. Nothing like the smell of powder at 3 am to start your day.

I'm not sure it's worth a 2 hour drive, but the range at Atterbury is very nice. It is outdoor though.
Thanks, Mike.
I've been meaning to get down there - to Atterbury. I checked out their web page and the place does look very nice.

Maybe I'll plan on blocking out a complete day for shooting there. 2 hrs down, 3-4 hours there, and 2 back - make a day of it!
Thanks again for reminding me about it!
I thik I'm going to have to join the local club. It's the only range locally and it's members only. I had places to go and shoot until recently, one of them my mothers place, but those have dried up now. Guess I need to move out to the boonies...or join the club.
Hi you shooters in Indiana are missimg a great shooting range in N.In.at kingsbury near LaPorte. I think it is a world class act. they have 50 yard, 100 yard ,and pistol from 10 to25 yards, it has berms on 3 sides ,a full time range officer .It is run by the state a$5.00personal fee,and $10.00 family fee . Paid for by hunting /fishing fee's ,They have cement roofs over the fireing line so that you could shoot in bad wether ,so ear protection is a must .The only day it is closed is monday .
I really feel fortunate to be a member of a gun club with a range just outside of the city limits. It's outdoor with about twenty covered (just where you shoot) shooting lanes from 25 to 200yds with large cinder block benches.
Adjacent is an eight lane 25yd.covered pistol range where you can get out of the hot Texas sun with sitting benches behind to rest.
It's unsupervised at all times:biggrin: and with a $50 yearly membership you get a combination to the gate. No other charges at all.
I own 80 acres and lease 200 more so I just step out the door and start shooting.
I own 25 acres of woods.

I shoot what I want, when I want.

Downside, it's 90 miles away.....:frown:

hmm... 90 miles don't exactly qualify as "when you want", brother.

Recently been displaced amonst the Yankees, I have found Central PA to be shooting Valhalla. There are three nice outdoor ranges within 15min of my house and the 2007 NASR Indoor Range of the Year. There are two IDPA matches a month within an hour of me, countless others if I am willing to drive <2hrs. The only problem here is having enough ammo on hand.
