I won't have it for quite a while, probably early 2009, but I ordered one of these. A Pistol Dynamics Signature.

http://www.pistoldynamics.com/Signature_1.html

Cost is just shy of $4500 with the options I selected. It should be one hell of a gun though. I figure I only live once and I want one full custom 1911. PD now makes their own frames, so it will be a new pistol from the ground up built in house. These pistols are works of art.

That's the beauty of a full custom piece, there really isn't a standard package. I spoke to Paul Liebenberg for almost an hour figuring out what I wanted and how it would look.

I went with 45ACP caliber
5" barrel
Gold bead front sight with the locking barrel bushing. (very nice looking)
Full length guide rod
Ambi safety
Flattened and lined slide top
30lpi front strap and trigger guard
Slide on mag well (very trick looking)
Standard round trigger guard
Browning cut slide (very nice looking. A feature offered by PD)
40lpi on the back of slide
Full hard chrome finish

What's nice about these pistols is that you won't see these parts on other 1911s. I especially like the beavertails and locking tab barrel bushings.

Here is a link to the features page. You can take a look at some of the features I ordered.

Its a two piece guide rod needing a Allen wrench to field strip it. I like them the best and two of my other 1911s have the same system, my Rock River and Springfield TRP.

It does come standard with nice sights, a great beavertail, and fully dehorned. This is all built and finished in house. In fact, everything on this pistol is built and done in house, with the exception of the hard chrome finish.

Paul is having a hard time with the Bo-mar sight availability the moment. Apparently, something went down there. I went with the in house sites instead. It is dehorned from what he told me. However, that isn't a big deal to me. I'm not going to carry it.

I know already they don't carry anymore for Rugers, I checked both Brownell's and Midway. I was working on my friend Ruger and Brownells is not even having them on back order. I am not sure with 1911 yet they may still have some.

Yeah, I hate waiting. However, I really don't have much choice. This was the pistol I wanted and its really just a once in a lifetime buy.

The wait shouldn't be that bad though, as I have plenty of other 1911s and handguns to use.

I like the look of the gold insert on the front. That's the first I have seen it. Overall, it sounds like this is going to be a very nice pistol.

I'm also waiting for a Pistol Dynamics handgun

Paul is building my IPSC Limited gun on an STI frame. It's been almost a year now. Sure hope it's worth the wait.
