Good question MD, I'm not a big fan of niclel. I like hard chrome better and it lasts very well. Some like nickel though and a lot of colts have it.

Bah, automatics should be blued or parked, and revolvers can be stainless.
Nickel or Chrome are for looks. Pimp Guns.

Saw a couple at a gunshow. I guess lots of people had picked them up to look at them. In just the right light, it looked like people had wiped their noses on them. You'd really have to keep 'em wiped down to keep 'em lookin' decent....if ya care about things like that.

I'm not trying to pee on anyones campfire, aside from Auto Mags, why are all the Nickel plated pistols I see......nothing but scratches...and these are the brand new ones?? I thought Nickel was supposed to be a moderately hard metal. Another guy just posted a pic of his brand spankin' new 45,and it's all scratches.

I have one of the Nickel ones, and it's fantastic!

BTW, this was my first 1911 ever AND my first .45ACP ever!

Sure, it might look like a "pimp gun", which is why I'm forgoing putting any mother-of-pearl grips on it.
