New member intros closed after a time period?

Hey all,

Odds are this doesn't warrant a thread on the subject but I don't really no who to address the question to and the guys that come to mind shouldn't have to do everything with all the new mods here.

I was just going to go back to my own Intro thread and post a little BS about how I finally made it to "Junior" status at 50 posts and realized the thread was closed.

That is fine as I can see several immediate reasons why intro threads would need to be put out to pasture eventually but I wanted to just make sure it wasn't anything controversial and just SOP.

thanks,

Robert

yep closed after time
Cool, Thanks Bud.

Certainly understandable.
No a Problem .. Ill expand why ,,

We haven't really had this happen yet but you usually get some new Guy who comes in wants to pad his post count and spends all day welcoming people who have been members for close to a year..

Then when you hit new posts all ya have is 200 welcome posts..
Bud that makes sense but I have never understood padding post counts. In reality I don't think post count means much as compared to the contribution.
It Doesn't Hunter but some people think it Gives them i don't know more clout or better rep to have high post count and not the quality of the posts.. Does that make sense?
That was the primary reason I could think of why it would expire or close over time. For instance, what benifit is there to have a setpoint for posting classifieds when somebody can post nonsense and exceed it pretty quickly. That's kind of a lousy example because you also have a chronological limit if I'm not mistaken.

Either way, regarding someones post count I agree it is not the quantity but the quality... Sorta like my little 1911 "collection" of two.

Awesome. Sorry to cut in Bud and Hunter but I really like that policy and it makes perfect sense to me.
Thanks Justin
