I have had a few issues where I had to send it back to RIA, not a fault of the factory ,[ had great service],, gun shop I got it from messed it up, RIA fs 1911 tac 2 10mm., was out plinking the other day , and noticed the guide rod was sticking out quite a bit from the end of the slide,, striped it down and found the guide rod was un threading from the spring stop, question I have ,would it be feasible just to put some green loc tite on it , cant see away to hold it with any type of tool with out wrecking something, THANKS

Mine was unthreading last I field stripped it, too. I'd thought about using thread locker but wanted to check to see if it was advisable. My instinct is telling me that there'd be nothing wrong in doing this, as there would be no reason for me to ever want to unthread it, but I'm holding off until I find an answer.

And yeah, this forum isn't as active as the other (big and busy) 1911 forum.
thanks for the reply , was worried I was only one here,,, lol
Most people replace it with a short "GI” setup and 86 the two piece. I personally like the flgr which many people do not like either.

I am old fashioned and install the short guide rod and standard recoil spring plug. FLGR's made disassembly harder and I have had issues with two piece rods coming apart.

Thread locker or a little JB weld on threads and you will be fine.
The loctite green will work just fine.
I'd use the 242 blue if it was me
Make sure any lubricant is removed before applying.

Yeah, didn't see how Necro this was.
