Here is my Colt 1911. I bought it from a friend of mine for $500.00. I could not turn down the deal!! It is pretty worn but the rifling in the barrel is still sharp and crisp. I am getting ready to give it a complete breakdown and an oil bath to clean it up a bit. Have not shot it and probably will not!!! But then again as you well know that is subject to change. If any of you know much about these old work horses please feel free to tell me about mine, good or bad!!!

Your Colt M-1911 was born in 1918 and from the pictures it has all the right parts to make it a Model 1911

No.557490 would put it in 1918 manufacture (http://coolgunsite.com/pistols/colt production.htm), is there any kind of stamping between the magazine release and the slide stop?
