My 2nd post here. I already posted a couple pics in the thread above...can't help myself .

So I've been working on this gun since Jan '07 and it’s finally done!
It's a combination home build/custom build with some stuff done by RRA at the factory.
Originally I was going to do everything myself, but there was a few things I wanted done that I couldn't do myself, and I wanted done right.
Dave Erickson from Condition One Pistolsmithing was my smith, and he was awesome. He was quick, he offered up advice, fixed my mistakes, and was absolutely dedicated to getting the gun done right. His fees were more than reasonable as well. I HIGHLY recommend his work. He had his work cut out for him because of my front sight choice (long story) and the checkering was already there so the high cut was challenging for him.
I'm also very pleased with RRA quality. There was no machine marks and everything seemed to be perfectly in spec. The work they did was top notch as well.
Leather work is by HBE leather.
This gun was meant for use. I plan on shooting classes with it and deploying with it if possible. Every part I chose was due to function, with a few exceptions (I like the look of French borders, so sue me :) ) I felt that the other parts offered at least some sort of advantage. It will wear the VZ operators for classes and such and the Ivory will be for carry (they're slim and easy of skin and clothes).

Okay, first the parts list-
RRA frame & slide
Kart barrel & bushing
Brown thumb safety
S&A grip safety
10-8 rear sight
10-8 mag release
10-8 slide stop
C&S ignition kit (gives a nice crisp ~3.5# pull)
Guncrafter integral lanyard loop MSH
C&S smooth long trigger
YoBo rail
Brown GI plug/rod
Wolff springs 16/23
Heinie Front Sight
SDM gold dot
Wilson Hardcore firing pin stop
Brown bullet proof firing pin
Socom blue cerakote
Satin aluminum cerakote
Ivory slim grips w/o MSH pin cutout by Mike Poulin

Now the work done:

Rock River Arms did:
Serrations, checkering, sight cuts French borders.

I did:
Beavertail fitting
Re-contouring of the S&A grip safety
Light dehorn on gun, radical dehorn on the barrel bushing
Light roundbutt treatment
Fit barrel
Fit slide to frame
Fit front sight
Fit firing pin stop
Fit thumb safety
Installed plunger tube
Installed bushings
Installed rail
Flush cut muzzle
Opened up magwell

Dave:
Fixed my errant file marks and smoothed appearance of the muzzle
When the thumb safety was engaged it was mushy (crisp when disengaged) Dave fixed that.
High cut front strap
Flush cut dovetail of the front sight
Countersunk slide stop pin
Installed gold bead
Applied Cerakote
Internally lightened trigger and permanently immobilized the overtravel screw
Dressed rear of slide

Okay, now for pictures, some were taken by Dave, some by me. The first ones are a couple before pics, and comparison pics showing what the muzzle looked like before Dave fixed it up for me.
Enjoy!

Thanks guys!
Yeah, I plan to carry it. I hope to take it with me on deployment, but that all depends...
In fact I carried to tonight after testing with my carry ammo. I kept wanted to lift up my shirt and look at it

Guns are meant to be shot and used IMO....even the pretty ones..

+1 I could not agree more.

Larry Vickers has a little illustration he likes to do. He takes out a gun and tosses it on the ground (he prefers mud, or gravel) and says, "If youre not willing to do this with a weapon, you have no business carrying it." Considering Larry's guns can go for upwards of $3500, that's sayin' somethin'.

Cool, excellent work. What's your carry ammo and we need a range repot.

Only thing it's missing is a "Smiley face" from Chris @ Blindhogg. Tracy

Right now I'm carrying Hornady 185 grn XTP or XRP or something. I prefer 230 grain but it's all I could find. This week I plan on putting about another 200 rounds through it I'll post a report then.
