So I am picking up my Para commander sized 1911 tomorrow. I also bought 1 of the Kimber Pro-Tac mag's to go with it.

It seems that everything I read about 1911's says Chip McCormick mags are the way to go, is this just due to price?

For my part I just have never had one fail on me. They always do what they were designed to do.

The cmc's are very good you can't beat them in that price range.

I have a couple of the CMC`s and feel they are great mags. Not a single problem. I`ve also recently picked up a few Mec Gar mags and so far I`m very happy with their performance as well.

As you can tell I use mostly Wilsons, I also have 2 checkmates so far to soon to give a review. I only have it because it came with My Sig TTT, I always carry though a Wilson mag. At the range I use the others but I also prefer Wilsons Mags. Keep in mid Shooters Plus carries them and is giving us discounts on them.

Just wondering what kind of experiences any of you have had with Mec Gar mags? I picked up a couple 7 rd that were very reasonably priced...quality seems to be top notch...but I haven`t had much opportunity to use them yet. I ran a couple mags full thru my SA GI .45 with them and they performed flawlessly, but I`m just curious as to what kind of life expectancy I can plan on?

i use macgear on my Para for sometime now, and I have nothing but good luck with it. Only thing that I've noticed is that when empty, follower is so tightly fit in to the magazine does not allow me to release the slide with slide release. But you really should not release the slide on empty mag anyway, so I don't see that as a probrem.

I've had great luck with Kimber mag too tho

I heard that Wilsons are great too. But I hate to spend more then $15 ea on magazine.
All my mags are bought on sale. thats why I have varielty of mags - Kimber mag, Macgear mag, unkbowm manufacture mag, Para mag,
Most mag i bought is off of those basket of mag sale type of thing. Only one I specifically ordered was Macgear, because I like the shape of their bumper
