Les Baer, Ed Brown has had some mixed "reviews" on his products over the years. Can't beat a Baer and I've shot several and I will get around to buying one. I've worn out a lot of 1911s over the years... it's why I want a Baer.

Welp started with a 70 series Colt in the mid 70's. I can tell you how many rounds you can shoot before the frame cracks... I'll go Baer.

I can run the gamut from Colt, to Essex to Swenson, Hoag, Wilson, SAI, and a lot of others... some are good to very good, but then there's "Get what you pay for" ;)

I have ended up with only one 1911. A Baer TRS, bought for a good price.

I don't know how to explain it, but this pistol spoiled me for 1911's: sold my Kimbers (reliable for me and more accurate than I am, no complaints). After handling and then shooting this Baer, I simply lost interest in the others. My wife's Colt M1991A1 still feels & shoots as good as ever, but the TRS definitely has a very special feeling to it. FWIW

Have Brown's Wilson's and others. Have to stir the nest and suggest you also consider Crafter Industries. Alex Zimmerman makes a fine pistol
