I called Les Baer once and asked if he would build a 1911 chambered for the 10mm Auto Pistol Cartridge. The man told me that it would cost twice that of what it normally would to build the same pistol in .45 ACP! The man proceeded burst into derisive invectives, deliberately insulting me!
I will NEVER do business with Les Baer, and will encourage people to take their business to another Custom auto pistol builder in Berryville Arkansas!
I think i will pass on anyone in Berryville and stick with Baer as a call to one of them custom makers and what the other says in there buyers guide about speer makes me say i'll pass
I just purchased my first Les Baer Concept VII, Commander size, 45acp, I looked and looked, talked and talked, read and read and finally decided on Baer for several reasons. Price, talking with others that owned a Les Baer, look, feel, function etc, you can go on and on, bottom line you spend your good hard earned money and what you want. I had heard several stories about how rude Baer could be, so I decided to try the before you buy call. I called and asked several questions, the lady on the other end listened to all my dumb questions that I am sure they had heard several hundred times before, all answered. Again its the Ford and Chevy talk.
Gunfan I was just wondering where this came from? You said you called Baer once. Was that the day of your post or are you just now getting around to vent?
No. I had this stuck in my craw for quite some time. Bob Serva, Kimber, S&W and Colt seemed to build 10mm Autos that can take the higher pressures generated by the 10mm Auto cartridge. Any "elite" custom 1911 builder that cannot match their success sounds as if they aren't very intelligent. After which, their rude behavior told me how their ignorance was exceeded only by their arrogance. I only need to be insulted ONCE to get the picture. I am not a fool, nor do i need to be treated as one.
I will tell anyone that asks, how I was treated. They can draw their own conclusions.
Scott. You have said you had a problem with Baer, explained how and that should be enough. There's no need to keep a thread going back and forth about it. The thread will remain where people can see your opinion, but I think it's understood you don't like baer and a continuing thread arguing the same thing is not necessary. Go to one of the sections of a maker you you like, relax and enjoy yourself. This thread is closed.
