Ok, this question has been kicked around on various "other" forums, but I thought I`d ask the question here. Is there ever ENOUGH when it comes to the 1911 and how many we own? Myself, I currently own 3..... a S&W .45, a Springfield .45, and a RIA in .38 Super. I feel very satisfied at the moment with my gun stable (especially since I have 2 other handguns that are not 1911`s), but I`ll be the first to admit that the hankerin for another 1911 could overcome me at any given moment. I have truly become addicted. :dancingbananna:

So what are you-alls thoughts?

I hate to admit it but, it's a God-Awful addiction! You'll find yourself selling the kid's teddybears, their tricycles and their baseball cards to buy another 1911! If you're not really careful, you'll start losing weight because of skipping meals to afford that new gun!
It's AWFUL! I'm warning you... STAY AWAY!

I don't have a Colt, Nighthawk, Rock River, S&W, Para... the list goes on. So many 1911's, so little money.

I owned 2, and sometimes carried those 2 at the same time, just because it was a beautiful thing! After a necessary and successful trade, however, I now only own one. I love that one.

How many is enough? The number of them should only be limited by your budget! There is no such thing as "enough" fine firearms!

Some things one or two of will suffice, but 1911s, Glocks, ARs, can't ever have enough of those!:shades:

I think when you have so many that you can't keep up with the maintenance, (making sure your guns aren't rusting) then that's about enough.

For me 5 would be enough. To the ones I have I'd add a WWI specimen and a full custom 10mm. If I lived in CCW state I'd probably want more.

I like things simple, so I only have 9mm and .45 ACP handguns. I'm a Glock guy, love their 9mm's and will never get rid of them. However, I've never been 100% happy w/ any of their .45s... and I've owned them all... and I insist on having a .45 in the arsenal in one form or another. So, I'm currently trying to trade my last .45 Glock- an unfired G21sf- for a 1911. Since I'm a big fan of having a "back-up" for virtually everything, I'm sure that one will not be enough. I'm thinking a railed, full-size model and a commander-size alternate will be just the ticket.

Now, should I decide to hunt dangerous game again (i.e. feral hogs on the ground w/ a bow) or hunt out west where dangerous game may choose to hunt me, I'd likely have to add a Glock 20 10mm to the collection... again.

I know there are at least 20 models out there now that I just feel I need to have.
I really have no money foir them and every year there are more being made I will want or need. No , there are never enough. just not enough money.

I only have 1 (my Stinger that I carry everyday)...but wouldn't mind having more...

Rifles are my favorites. I just got really interested in handguns during the past few years, I love to run a good combat course, and I'm looking around for some 3 gun courses too.

To answer your question...all I can get and then some.

About ten years ago I looked in the safe and realized that I had four .45's, two of which were 1911's. I passed on some bargains because I thought I didn't "need" them.

Well the years have gone by and I have bought more 1911's, one that shoots 9mm and a couple that shoot 45, and I am getting ready to build two more.
