Noticed I responded to this 12/25/07.....long time ago. Changed my mind.....I'll stick with my Lee Pro 1000.
I have had RL550B since '93. Recently brought down from the attic and restored. Now producing great ammo once again.
can (and do) have a pair of the big Lee progressives for the same price as one dillon. Lee dies cost half as much as dillon dies, too. I like to be able to load rifle ammo, so the pro 1000 is inadequate for me. by having 2 lees, I don't have to change anything to load 9mm and 223, I don't shoot enough .45's to have to set up for it more than one weekend per year. I just load up all 5000 rds of .45 brass, switch back to 9mm and leave it that way. for the rest of the year.
Well.......P1K is starting to act up.....I.E. some worn out parts (figure I've got over 250K pulls on the handle), and the wife wants to shoot a LOT MORE than she used to. Says she'll be happy to buy me a 650 if I want it.......guess I'll be drinking blue koolaid in the near future.
Yup, have had the 650 for a while now.....still like the primer tray of the P1K, but otherwise, think I like the Dillon better.
Started with a Lee Classic Turret, then upgraded to a Lee Loadmaster, and finally bought a Dillon 650 a few years ago, and I will never look back. It is the best press I've owned. Check out my DIY case feeder test.
I have owned a 550B since 1990. Tried a 650, but sold it and stuck w/ the 550. It gets used everyday.
I run a RL 550B. Currently have tool heads assembled for 9mm, 38, 40, 45ACP, and 44. I've been away from it for a while due to an injury but getting back to my reloading bench just recently. I also have a conversion kit for 380 but can't find dies for it yet. All my rifle loads I do one at a time on a RCBS loader. Love the Dillon though. Bought the Dillon back in 2006.
Just installed the UFO 550 Press light. Awesome, wish I had it a long time ago. Nice upgrade for these old eyes.
