Congratulations on a wonderful find. I`m sure you`ll enjoy it, and I`d be surprised if the deceased veteran isn`t looking down upon you with a smile.

Joe, at times you can find them at a very good price. I picked up mine from a friend at work, it belonged to his great uncle. I paid $500.00 for it. It is not very pretty but it is mine!!! No plans to shoot it, just preserving a little piece of history!!!:smile:

If you buy a WWII era Colt 1911 A1, be sure and drop the firing pin slide plate to see if the serial number on the slide matches the number on the frame. Only Colt's made during the war have the serial # in two places.
