I like either the Hornady TAP line or the Winchester Rangers.

I just changed to the Federal HST in .230g. They worked great in my Nighthawk, but I still have to try them out in my STI Duty One that I use for home defense.

I still have hundreds of 230 grain XTP's from my press purchase a year ago. They feed well, are more accurate than me, and cheap! Looks like I'm hitting +P, around 850 fps from a 3.5" barrel. I only use once fired brass for defense purposes.

Yep...thats +P alright...and a hot one, pushing it a bit hard IMO...I like my fingers too much for that.

The XTP's are tough bullets though...they wont expand at much lower velocity

Our duty ammo when we carried Sig P220 was Fed 230+P JHP Tactical.(No stats on shootings cause we had none since we got away from Glocks!) Our Glock shootings with G17s were terrible-17 hits=no stops vs 1 shot stop from G21. We got issued Sig P220s the next week!(Time frame-G17s-Sig P220s-G22s) My bad. No G22 tales yet, Thank you, Jesus. The Fed 230JHP+P was the "State Bid" ammo and my searches online have found not much+/- on it. Hype is on Fed HyrdaShok, we had that in regular and +P. HST is the new thing, but I think the economy is holding that close to the LEO only vest. That is my carry load in all my 45s and for what I have seen on non-human targets like feral dogs and a deer- it works.

That is what I have in my 1911 right now; but stuff like the 185 gr +P really light my fire; since it is potent stuff for the punks out there.

    .45 ACP +P......9550001f46499ffb68b4321c6636d271_5.jpg
I wouldn't be afraid of anything that is in the cities; and I would have very little fear of what is in the woods. The Hydra Shok .45 Auto (+P) 185 grain, will kill them when it is needed.

    [I get preachy sometimes, just over-look it.]:D

I was going to suggest HST after your last post but they do not have light loads in .45 like you prefer.
I ran Winchester Black Talon until it wasn't available, then switched to Winchester Ranger, then it got to be near impossible to get so I switched to Federal HST.
It is now starting to get difficult to acquire HST in the big boxes so once I run out of my current stock I think I'm going to switch to boutique ammo like buffalo bore. Screw the big companies putting their profit above our safety. It's time to support the little guy.
