Has anyone else experienced ejection issues where the shell case ejects directly to the rear hitting you in the face or forehead? What causes this? Could it be because the chamber is so tight?

My Glock throws brass at me like something awful. After a busy day at the range I usually find a few cases in my collar and down my shirt. I might be because I'm a lefty though... Correct me if I'm wrong but I was told that the ejection port might need to be flared

It could be 2 or 3 different things or possibly a combination of all. The first thing I would look at is the tension and bevel on your extractor.

If that doesn't fix it then check the angle on the ejector. Sometimes a ext. ejector is needed.

Good luck :)

Kimber pistols, like most modern 1911s, have a lowered/flared ejection port right from the factory. Some die-hard 1911 fans will tell you this is not even necessary ...

Thanks. The Tactical Pro has the external extractor. Do you have any tips that may be specific to this particular design? I'm sure your previous comments still apply but I'm wondering if any issues and associated fixes are common for this particular type of extractor.

I've also heard from an old timer that the recoil spring could have something to do with throwing brass all over the place. Now I've got a brand new STI Spartan that does tend to throw brass all over the place, so I'm going to check my extractor...

Bud is correct send it back to Kimber somes more like the ejector then the extractor that would throw the brass,The extractor pulls it untill it hit the ejector which throws it.
Do not try and bend it yourself please.

If I limp wrist my Stinger it will throw brass at me...I limp wristed it on purpose after I got the springs figured out just to see what happened. And what happened was brass hitting me on top of the head and 2 times it stovepiped out of 4 mags (28 rounds)

EDIT: this was a really limp "limp wrist"...I just wanted find out how it affected feed and function after I got the initial bugs worked out.

This probably is not the reason the OP's pistol is throwing brass at him...but I thought I would add it as some "food for thought"...it may be the next guys answer.
