thanks gents.

. How did you secure the vertical to the base? Screw, dowel or other? Thanks

Charlie

I though about pinning them, Charlie, but decided I'd try glue first and see how it holds up.

I used a 1/2" straight router bit and router table to cut the slot.
Then cut the uprights at 1/2" width.
It's a nice snug tight fit.
so with just glue, I don't "think" they'll go anywhere ...

W/E forcast calling for plenty-O-rain. Seems like a worthy project. Can anyone provide pointers on construction so I dont have to re-invent the wheel.
you wanting measurements, Bhawk?

I'll get you "accurate" ones tomorrow if needed.

from "memory" , the upright is appx 7" x 1 1/4 x 1/2 thick
The base is 4.5 x 9
the slot cut is 1/2 wide x 1.5 long

for the angle of the upright, I used my gun and simply eyeballed it for a level slide after applying glue.
Once I was happy the way the pistol stood, I removed the gun and let the glue dry.

Once dry, I took the stand to the table saw, angled the blade to same as upright and cut the back flush with the upright

you can see the flush cut angle a little better in this pic

BTW, I routed the edges of the base before I assembled and glued obviously.

they're a piece of cake to make the way "I" make them.
i sold a couple at the last gun show, so I need to make a couple more before next weekend

I can take pics of the process if anyone is interested, but there's really not much to it
