I participated in a similar thread elsewhere but to get the DW subforum going I thought I'd mirror it a little bit.

Several opinions and comments have been offered as to whether or not DW has as much creative freedom under CZ ownership as it did when Bob Serva was at the helm but I am not going to go down that road intentionally in this thread. Savvy?:nonono:

I only offer this to stir the pot with at this time:
Robert,
Thank you very much. We are actually using the 320 grips on a new model next year but it does not have the DW logo on it. I wanted to see what
the response was first.

What do you think they will come out with?

Here is your chance to come back to this thread and say "I told you so" in a little over a month.

My vote is a black coated CBOB in .45 with VZ320's and a Fiber optic front sight, plain rear. Surely ZeroTA could appreciate the attributes.

thats interesting
Ummm... I better clarify the context of Keiths' reply as I can see how you made that conclusion. I think it is misleading on my part, apologies all around.

I had inquired of Keith about some 1911 Bobtail grips another person had posted pictures of, they were double Diamond checkered with border and there was a nice DW logo centered on them in an uncheckered smooth finish.

I inquired as to whether the design might be available in a Micarta version as opposed to Cocobolo or any other wood for that matter. I received the reply you saw earlier.

So, to further clarify and clear up my mess:crap:

He was referring to the grips on the new model being Micarta VZ320's and said grips not being emblazoned with the DW logo. That is how I understood it. I'll go back and put NEW MODEL in bold.:confused:

Well, that is certainly a different perspective than I have but certainly not unfounded.

They do know how to make a fine revolver, or at least someone there did.
I think a variation of an existing model 1911 is likely, and that the 320's are carry oriented rather than Tacti-cool or Competition-minded. I have also read a gazillion posts that they should offer blued or matte finished guns again so that is what I based my guess on.

Some "junior member" of another forum announced in his 2nd post that there will be 2 new models and that DW in fact lurks the forum... the latter of his statements wasn't so profound in my opinion given ttheir history.

No Worries Bud.

I never heard about the midyear releases, I'd be happy to read up on it if you run it down feel free to link me up.

Thanks!

One of the moderators on that forum seems to know that something's up,but he won't say what. A black gun would be a crowd-pleaser but I'm hoping for a Razorback .45,black or stainless. :shades:

There was hushed whispers as well of a competition ready .40,but that may have been idle speculation...the internet rumor mill strikes again!

. Dan Wesson is waiting until later in the year to release any new models. I believe this is so that they can build up inventory, and actually meet consumer demand once released (what a novel concept!). I cannot say anything about what's up, except to say that I think you'll be pleased...

Reconvic, If there is any surplus of DW 1911 Swag I'd like to be in your thoughts if it isn't to much of an imposition.

Regarding the thread subject there was some "leakage" on another forum about two new models and I really felt a little deflated by it. It may be inaccurate but all the same I think in hindsight that surprises are more fun.

At least one of them is very interesting though.

I suppose Bud, after all it is a business 1st and foremost. I have no plans to purchase anything soon but since bitten by the bug I like to see new models come out and speculation is part of the anticipation.

Of course with gun values being as consistent as they are I could always consider turning one of mine if I saw something I had to have but couldn't justify any other way. A family has to eat and all that. That Valor sounds as if it could be pretty intriguing. I think it will be a 1911, CZ hasn't named any of their CZ-75, 83 or 83 style pistols other than by model numbers similar to my examples have they? That sounds more like a DW trait to me.
