Eric holder brought up the assault weapons ban today saying it was a must that it be reinstated.

Holders reason for the need of reinstatement of the AWB was to curb these violent and illegal weapons from being smuggled in to Mexico.

Now wait just a darn minute Mr. AG, your standing there in front of the cameras in front of the tax paying citizens of this great nation, and telling us that we must have our second amendment rights further abused , not because it is better for America, but because it is helpful to the government of Mexico.
Sir your are a complete and total socialist lying AZZhat.

Yes, he is and none of the "new ones" know what they are talking about.

This is not a good fight for them given the state of the economy and the monies they are spending. They are going to lose a lot of votes they "earned" during the election (one of which was not mine) if they continue to pursue this.

I'm sure they are going to try to slip another AWB in there somewhere...but for some reason I don't really think it will stick...for many reasons, the economy being one of them.

I just hope I'm right...and they better keep their eye on the ball (the economy), that being said...if Osama and crew manage to put the economy back together then we better watch out because he will have all the support he needs and then some.

Seems to me he wouldn't be him if he didn't say that. He's doing what them types do.. keep saying it and eventually it may come to pass.
They are starting out slow on the gun thing, but fear not, total bans have been and will continue to be their agenda.
They are also just waiting for us to "relax" a little before sliding through some crap legislation at 2AM like Pelosi loves to do.
We'll wake up one morning to some ridiculous new law.
If Obama was smart, he'd get on the side of law abiding gun owners and tell the far lefties to leave us alone. He needs all the support he can get and picking a fight with gun owners is NOT going to gain him a thing.
As far as Mexico is concerned, we are very doubtfully sending "AK-47's" as the clueless AG says across the border. They can get all the full auto weapons they want from countries below them.
It's about time the people in this country are starting to wake up to the BS lies these liberals keep spewing!
But as we all know, you keep lying, it catches up with you.

The way I see it. The currant Administration will most likely not take on the gun issue in earnest, during the first term in office. However during a second term, we all better beware!

The best and most effective way we can combat the situation, is to:

Teach a non shooter, how to shoot! It is amazing the transformation that occurs when a person is no longer afraid of firearms. I teach at least several non shooters every year! If every gun loving individual taught at least one, our ranks would double.

When I am asked how much does it cost to learn. I respond, "You buy your own ammo, and if you enjoy shooting, the cost of a membership in the NRA."

Best of Luck to all!

Hasn't slowed them down so far.

Couldn't agree more. If they push it through, all the gun owners who did nothing can only be told that they were warned.

Okay if Holder is bringing this up as a national security issue, does it even have to go before congress.

If it does and Congress passes it they have 3 + years to let the tempers cool down prior to the next election

Congress can be changed in just TWO years. And if the people in this country have ANY sense of reason left by then, you will see BIG changes!
Holder is telling the people that FULL AUTO and grenades are coming from the US into Mexico!!??
What kind of crap is that!?
IF that is true, then they better get a grip on military gun stores because that stuff damn sure isn't coming from LAW ABIDING gun owners!!
Once again. the law abiding gun owners of this country have to eat government dung because they CANNOT enforce the laws already in place!!

In light of the announcement...I decided to play it safe, right after I sent emails to my state reps....I ordered ten 13 round XD 45 Compact mags. ($360...I really can't afford this crap right now, but if I had waited a couple of weeks they probably would have cost me $500)

Send those emails and buy those mags now...whether the ban passes or not...mag prices will skyrocket within a few weeks. (even if the prices don't change much...they will be EXTREMELY hard to find)

I would think these kind of armaments are coming across Mexico's southern border. It really does not matter. They will use this an an excuse to further attack the second amendment, and our rights.

It seems Pelosi is not so "gun-ho"....Oh well, I got plenty of mags anyway (I won't tell my wife about what Pelosi said...you know, since she said to order the mags before the prices go through the roof)...then again, I don't trust Pelosi...she's a smart old hag, she may just be saying that hoping somebody will believe her. Either that or they remember what happened in 1994 where the Dems lost the majority.

Pelosi throws cold water on weapons ban
By Mike Soraghan
Posted: 02/26/09 11:59 AM [ET]

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tossed cold water on the prospect of reinstating the assault weapons ban, highlighting Democrats’ reluctance to take on gun issues.

Attorney General Eric Holder raised the prospect Wednesday that the administration would push to bring back the ban. But Pelosi (D-Calif.) indicated on Thursday that he never talked to her. The Speaker gave a flat “no” when asked if she had talked to administration officials about the ban.

“On that score, I think we need to enforce the laws we have right now,” Pelosi said at her weekly news conference. “I think it's clear the Bush administration didn’t do that.”

Outside of the dig at the recent Republican president, that phrase is the stock line of those who don’t want to pass new gun control laws, such as the National Rifle Association.

The White House declined to comment on Holder's remarks, referring reporters to the Department of Justice. The DoJ did not respond to The Hill's request for comment.

I think they are waiting for a way to get up at 2am and pass some REAL bad piece of legislation. On the other hand, they KNOW people aren't about to come forward and toss their weapons in a pile for ANYONE.
If they try a total ban, the next stimu-pork oackage will be for building prisons.
The states don't even want gun bans. It's about time Holder got a hold on his anti-gun emotions.

Now Harry Reid has joined Nancy against holder. I think there telling the president and the AG that writing laws is in their court and to butt out. For the past several days Lou Dobbs has been nailing holder an the administration about their assault on our 2nfd amendment rights.

Congress never seems to want to acknowledge that there are already U.S. laws on the books that would handle any problems on our side of the border. I have to give credit to Nancy Pelossi for bringing that up. We can not make rules for Mexico.
