I don't want to cut my Frame on my ORM 1991A1, so I'm
thinking a Drop in BTGS
Anyone use one, got any Pics ?
Thanks

I don't have pics as I don't have the gun any more but I put one in a lwt xse one time and it fit much better than the ducktail that came in it.

oops, I lied here's a pic:

Thanks: That looks like a great Fit
I'm still debating on installing the Drop in or just going for it and installing
an S&A .250
I have installed a few with .220 and .250, but this is my Favorite 1911 and I don't want to mess it up, and I don't trust any Gunsmiths around here.

I just installed one in my Colt/Essex build. Like most parts I had to do some metal work on the GS to get enough clearance on the frame. Only on the sides. It looks fine but does not have the close fit of one the frame was modified to accept. I like mine fine. Rob
If it would not have fit so well I would have cut one in. I am partial to the ed brown high rise ones and have done mostly those. That one fit so well I did not bother. I cut the bobtail in that colt along with some other stuff.
I've got a drop in on my Commander. It's been there so long I don't remember if it's a Wilson's or not.

After several thousonad rounds I'd have to say it's fine...when shooting I really can't tell any difference between the drop in on the Commander and the fitted S/A on my thompson...

It's good enough that I never bothered to change it even after learning how to cut the frame and install the fitted ones...

Harold
I used one on an XSE I used to own also. Looked and worked great. I don't have a problem persay with cutting the frame for a BT. However, if you have an option to avoid doing so. There is no other way imo.

BTW, awesome looking Bobtail Jerry.:notworthy:
Thanks Justin that was the first bobtail I ever cut in, did a bunch of other stuff to it also. Sure wish I still had it.

This is what it looked like finished.

Hi.Hylander

I have been many time and many gun to put the better part to firmly grip.

Let see my guns: Left one fit with Willson combat drop in BTGS # 429SC

And right one fit with Willson combat drop in BTGS # 429SG

Your ORM 1991A1 that series 80 must fit with #429SC Pl.remember SC.

My left one is Colt Officer's ACP Series 80 and right one S'70 small rampant.

Your take care.....

Are you sure about the part numbers for the 1991A1
The one on the right looks like the Tang on my 1991A1, the one on the left does not.
Everyone told me I needed the 429SG and I just ordered it today from Brownells along with lots of other stuff.

Well I got it and got it installed.
I have to say I am very well Pleased
It was not a Drop in fit, took about 1 hour, but I think it looks pretty darn good and I did not have to cut the Frame.

Looks nice, thats what a drop in is though not having to cut the frame. You will still have to fit the tang.

Only part I had to fit was the Trigger bar Tang, to long and had to be narrowed.

Yes, thats normal for a drop in. Drop in means the frame, kind of misleading for first timers.
Very nice......Normally it has better than original safety grip.

And new trigger that came with screw stop to prevent over pull trigger.

So that goood function.

.........Your enjoy Hylander.........
Those are really a good option for not changing the stock frame, nice one by the way blackhawk.
