Polishing off the detail cleaning on my 1911 and it occurred to me this must be true!

Upon observing his wife applying wads of cotton to toothpicks, Leo Gerstenzang, the original founder of the Q-tips® Company, conceived the idea of manufacturing a ready-to-use cotton swab. He found the Leo Gerstenzang Infant Novelty Co., a firm which marketed baby care accessories.

When I stop at the smoke counter for pipecleaners mine still asks, what for, you dont smoke a pipe.

I've found that the shaft of a Q-tip has the exact same diameter as the small pin on a 1911.

guess I'm too lazy for all the Q-tip swabbing

I blast away all the hard to reach areas with brake parts cleaner.
(like a mini pressure washer in a can :biggrin

a lot more expensive than Q-tips, that's for sure, but a lot quicker and easier
