The department that I retired from held a news conference yesterday to announce the solving of 5 cold case homicides in our community dating from 1977 to 1982. Lifted a huge black cloud over the community. All female victims where the guy broke into the home and waited for the person to return. They got confessions after a nearby department popped him for another 30 year old cold case. My dept matched dna and a palm print to one of the crimes. When confronted, he agreed to plead if the death penalty was off the table. He's 63 now and has been in prison since 1983.
